Temecula Valley, Murrieta and Lake Elsinore Valley Chambers
Secure Perfect Business Voting Record With Area Legislators
The
Temecula Valley, Murrieta and Lake Elsinore Valley Chambers
through their regional advocacy coalition, the Southwest
California Legislative Council (SWCLC) tracked 58 potential
new laws in 2007 that might have an impact on the Temecula
Valley business community. Last year the SWCLC tracked half
as many potential new laws.
“We
increased our working relationship and doubled our efforts
in terms of the issues we tracked with our state legislators
this past year,” stated Dennis Frank, Chairman of the SWCLC.
“We will continue to effectively represent the interests of
business in 2008,” continued Frank.
The SWCLC
discussed and took a position of support or opposition on
each potential new law and communicated those positions with
state legislators throughout 2007.
This
year, all area legislators voted with the SWCLC 100% of the
time, a major accomplishment in representing the interests
of Temecula businesses with government.
“Our
chambers continue to hold its local legislators accountable
to the business community. For the first time ever we are
happy to announce our state legislators voted with us 100%
of the time representing a 20% average increase since our
first vote record three years ago,” continued Frank.
The SWCLC
lobbied during the 2007 legislative session for our
legislators to OPPOSE 31 potential new laws and SUPPORT 27
potential new laws. The SWCLC's official positions on each
of the 58 bills have been available online on this web site
including summaries and explanations of why the SWCLC
opposed and supported each of the 58 potential new laws.
To reach
the “percentage FOR pro-jobs legislation,” the SWCLC tallied
the number of times our legislators voted for the SWCLC’s
position and divided that total by the total number of
potential new laws in which each legislator voted. A
potential new law is not figured into the vote record
percentage if a legislator, for whatever reason, did not
vote or if the potential new laws died before the legislator
had an opportunity to vote.
