AB 2127 (BENOIT)

SMALL BUSINESS FAMILY SCHEDULING OPTION

Southwest California Legislative Council Position: SUPPORT

AB 2127 will allow employees and employers flexibility in work schedules.

It is important to help accommodate employees' diverse family obligations, personal pursuits, commuting issues and environmental concerns by allowing a small business to agree to provide scheduling options requested by an employee. This will give small employers a new tool to retain employees.

Since union employees and their employers would not be affected by the new options being offered in AB 2127, this piece of legislation should be a win-win for employers and employees throughout our state.

The request for the option must be made by the employee, in writing, and it must be made voluntarily, along with the agreement executed in writing to the employer being required to maintain a copy of the written agreement as they would any personnel record are fair and equitable for both the employee and employer.

AB 2127 is the most equitable way to allow an alternative scheduling option.
